Kurt Smuk Fund
by posted 11/03/2011

To:  The WAA and Xtreme Girls Softball Family:

Kurt Smuk has been a long time member of the WAA Girls Softball (WAA) family. Kurt or better known as “The Commish” began his involvement with WAA in the mid 1990’s coaching his daughter Kellie. He then served as a WAA board member and Commissioner until he retired in 2008.  Kurt was very instrumental with the development of the Ridge Park fields and he led many of the fund raising activities that financed the construction of the complex. Field No.8 at Ridge Park was in part named in his honor.

More recently, Kurt has been battling colon cancer for the past two and half years.  Not only has this battle taken a toll on Kurt’s health, it has also taken a toll on him and his family financially.  In recognition for all his years of service to WAA and the Webster/Penfield community, a fund has been set up to assist Kurt and his family with his medical and other expenses.  It is our way of saying thanks to Kurt for all the volunteer hours and many efforts he unselfishly gave that contributed to WAA being the finest girls softball program in New York State.

The “Kurt Smuk Fund” has been established at Canandaigua National Bank.  Donations can be made in person at the branch near Jackson Road located at 1155 Ridge Road, Webster NY 14580.  You can also mail a donation check to the bank made out to the “Kurt Smuk Fund”.

Please feel free to share and forward this message.  Any questions regarding this fund can be addressed to Andy Bartlett at

Again the address for donations is:

Thank you in advance for helping Kurt.

Sincerely,

Andy Bartlett
